The Blue Bell at Cocking opened in December 2019 as a community-owned pub, following a village fundraising campaign to prevent the site from being sold as housing.

We are located just below the South Downs Way in the South Downs National Park and are a SDNP partner pub.

In summer we have a busy indoor and outdoor trade with walkers and cyclists and a good B&B trade in our 3 refurbished rooms. We also have local passing trade as we are on the main road between Midhurst and Chichester and on a half-hourly bus route.

Kitchen Assistant (PT) Front of House (PT)

 

Kitchen Assistant (part-time)

To report to the senior kitchen staff under the direction of the General Manager

Duties to include

  • Keeping equipment, kitchen tools, crockery etc clean and stacked away as directed
  • Assist the kitchen team with some food preparation tasks
  • Clear away rubbish and keep all surfaces and working areas clean as directed
  • During food service time assist with any other tasks requested by the team

  • A clean and tidy appearance
  • An organised and methodical approach to workload
  • Attention to detail especially in matters of hygiene
  • Good team player
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Keen to learn about the operation of a commercial kitchen
  • Adaptable to any tasks requested
  • Available to work a flexible schedule
  • Responsible and conscientious attitude

Front of House Team Member

To work under the direction of the General Manager to provide efficient and friendly service to a wide range of customers visiting our community owned village pub.

Duties to include

  • Welcoming guests , seating them, and taking any relevant details
  • Preparing and laying up tables
  • Taking orders and relaying them to the kitchen team
  • Serving meals and drinks at tables both inside and in the garden area
  • Clearing tables and keeping the restaurant and outside area clean and tidy at all times
  • Checking cleaning rosters for the toilets
  • Cleaning the public areas from time to time as requested
  • Using the EPOS electronic till system for orders and billing

About you

  • A friendly, outgoingĀ  and self-confident manner
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Good organisational skills
  • Logical approach to prioritising tasks and workload
  • Ability to observe customer behaviour and provide intuitive customer service
  • Able to handle complaints or difficulties in a polite and composed manner
  • Available to work flexible shifts as requested
