Welcoming You - Safely! - The Blue Bell at Cocking

We are always delighted to welcome you to the Blue Bell at Cocking.  Especially in these strange and uncertain times.

Things have been a little different since we re-opened, but even in these unusual and continually evolving times we can still promise you some familiarity and a warm welcome, great hospitality, delicious food, fresh draught beers and comfortable rooms.

We want to reassure you that the safety and wellbeing of our guests and our team remain our constant priority.

We (and you) have all become accustomed to the  new way that  we are required to do things,  and we are continually reviewing  and adapting  our procedures to give you peace of mind, and keep up with the latest guidelines,  while you catch up with friends over a pint and enjoy meals out with your family in your local.

Here are some of the steps we’re taking to welcome you back…

  • Face Mask - The Blue Bell at Cocking

    COVID Compliant Check In Procedures

With effect from Monday September 24 2020 all guests must wear masks on arrival and during check-in at the Blue Bell. Masks may only be removed once you are sitting at your table. Guests not complying with this requirement will be asked to leave the premises immediately.

  • Cleaning & Hygiene - The Blue Bell at Cocking, West Sussex

    Cleaning & Hygiene

Prior to re-opening. we introduced enhanced cleaning practices, and there are dedicated team members at all times responsible for this. Time-checked sheets are in place for monitoring purposes. We are now using Zoono anti-viral protection on all touch points.

There are multiple sanitation stations in the public areas for guests and staff.

Menus are easily visible in various prominent locations around the restaurant and laminated copies are provided on request after being cleaned with anti-viral spray.

Wrapped cutlery and condiments will be brought over to the table, once guests have been seated, and nothing is left out in any public area.

  • Responsible Distancing - The Blue Bell at Cocking, West Sussex

    Responsible Distancing

Tables are spaced in accordance with government guidelines and clear signage for a “one-way traffic system” around the premises and in and out of the toilets is in place.

One guest in each party must check-in on arrival and provide details to a member of our pub team, any other guests in the group must proceed straight to a table and subsequent orders and payments will be taken by a team member.

We are also part of the NHS QR scheme and the QR code is displayed. There is no customer access to the bar and drinking while standing is no longer permitted inside or outside the building.

Our menu has been revised to ensure we can maintain the best possible service levels while ensuring the safety of our team.

  • Controlled Capacity - The Blue Bell at Cocking, West Sussex

    Controlled Capacity

One member of any group of arriving guests will be greeted on arrival so that we can manage the number of guests in the Blue Bell at any one time. If there is no space available at a table, we shall have to ask you to leave and come back later when we can accommodate you and your party. For this reason advance booking is strongly recommended.

All guests must enter by the single designated entrance and after checking in must go and join the rest of their party at a table as directed on arrival,  or at their pre-reserved table.

All guests are encouraged to book a table in advance to ensure that we can manage our capacity and maintain our service levels for everyone’s enjoyment and safety.

  • Best Practice & Training - The Blue Bell at Cocking, West Sussex

    Best Practice & Training

We carefully follow all government guidelines.

Prior to our re-opening, all of our staff were trained in the procedures we have in place for cleaning, hygiene and social distancing. This training is updated as soon as new procedures are issued to keep everyone aware of ongoing changes to Government guidelines.

We constantly check that everybody working in and with the Blue Bell is fully aware of, and committed to, our safe ways of working – including our suppliers.

Clear signage is displayed inside and outside the Blue Bell, communicating all relevant health and safety guidance.

  • Safe Comfortable Rooms - The Blue Bell at Cocking, West Sussex

    Safe Comfortable Rooms

We are committed to regular and thorough cleaning procedures in the Blue Bell and this includes the management of our overnight accommodation.

We provide detailed information for overnight guests prior to check in, on our website, with all of the necessary health and safety updates and procedures.

We have contracted a local company, who specialise in servicing B and B accommodation, to clean our bedrooms in a fully COVID compliant manner, which is monitored with room-specific check lists.

Minimal stock is left  in rooms with all “consumable” items being replaced for new guests. The upstairs public areas are part of the systematic cleaning regime and only pre-reserved overnight guests are permitted to enter the guest accommodation area.

We have a simplified check-in process for overnight guests and where possible are taking pre-payment for rooms to minimise contact.

  • Trace & Trace - The Blue Bell at Cocking, West Sussex

    Track & Trace

To help the Government in gathering information for NHS Track and Trace, and as required by law, a member of our team will ask for your contact details on arrival.  We are also part of the NHS QR code system which has been recently introduced and the code is displayed at the check in point.  We will never use your details for any other purposes and all information will be destroyed after 21 days. If you have any questions, please ask a team member on arrival.

We look forward to your visit – come soon!

If you or a member of your family have any of the Coronavirus symptoms and as much as we would like to see you, please, please, please stay at home.
